Vintage World Globe with Mineral and Semi-Precious Stone Inlay – Good Condition – 44cm Diameter, 50cm Tall

This is a vintage 1990s mahogany effect and brass wooden globe, inlaid with veneer of semi-precious and polished stones.

Each country of the world as it was in the late 1990s has been demarcated with a different mineral giving a beautiful showcase of not only world geography, but geology as well. Minerals such as granite, pink granite, rhyolite, lapis lazuli, serpentine, marble, mother-of-pearl (to name a few!) have all been carved and placed individually to give this beautiful patchwork but polished effect and is still very eye-catching (and relevant!) all these years later

The gyroscopic effects of the brass spindle still work beautifully and the brass has come up well with a good polish. There is some slight wear to the red mahogany base, though we have left this and brought the shine back to it, as it adds to the provenance and the patina of a great piece.

A perfect extra for those who want that retro feel with a flexible use – a great talking point for lounges and studies.
