Description

This is a very recent, exquisite addition to the Boutique. We have this 19th century Ormolu gilded clock with refurbished burgundy velvet base and adjustable pendulum that is an absolute stunning central mantelpiece feature.

We believe it dates to the mid to late 19th century and is very much in the Rococo style, very popular at the time. The piece is called ‘Innocence Found’ and depicts a girl and a dog in front of a wooden fence – again another similar and very popular motif of the time.

The gold has been applied using the ormolu method where a mixture of gold and mercury is applied to the base metal and then the mercury is extracted leaving a golden covering in its place over the entire piece.

It is difficult to tell from looking at the piece whether the base metal is brass or bronze, however, we would suggest bronze due to the weight of the item.

It chimes multiple times hourly and once on the half hour. This can be changed by removing the bell from the back of the item via a small nut if desired.

If you would like any more information on this piece, then please enquire.
