Description

This is a Framed Printed Picture of Kirkstall Abbey, in Kirkstall, near Leeds, UK. Kirkstall Abbey is a ruined Cistercian monaster on the north bank of the River Aire. It was founded c. 1152. It was disestablished during the Dissolution of the Monasteries under Henry VIII.

Edna Lumb, studied at Leeds College of Art (now Leeds Arts University) from 1948-1953. Her work stands as one of the most successful observations of British urban and industrial life with engines, pylons, quarries, cooling towers, and wheels (gear wheels, rail wheels, flywheels, water-wheels) her perpetual subjects.

The picture itself stands 70cm tall and 55cm wide and a depth of just over 2.5cm. It is in Good to Very Good condition overall and needs a small bit of remedial work to the rear
