Description
This is a recent arrival at the boutique – a Victorian antique nursing chair in a pink and oyster white stripe. It is likely to have been recovered maybe as late as the 1980s or 90s, though the original filling and springs look to be original.
The fabric is in good to very good condition for its age and is filled with a natural and probably original hemp/straw filling. It has a salmon pink and oyster white stripe decor, with a a two-tone dusky pink and salmon pink textured gimp edge detailing.
The wooden base is a very substantial wood and all four legs are stout and sturdy, made from a teak or mahogany. It is on four castors (again, look to be original) with the front legs in a circular, turned wood finish, whilst the rear two are more subtle and square. The mahogany back panel is of fantastic potted flower detail and is also in excellent condition.
There is a slight mark and the feintest of fraying in one spot on the seat (shown in pictures) but is barely noticeable unless pointed out.
The chair is quite weighty, so please bear this in mind on purchase. The springs are still very much in a usable condition, so this can be either a decorative or everyday piece.
Overall, this fabulous pink and white nursing chair is in very good condition and would look splendid in a bedroom or dining room with a similar decor.
